Xiaoshu is one of the twenty-four solar terms and the fifth solar term in summer.

With the arrival of Xiaoshu, it also represents the official beginning of Ji Xia.

Today, let’s talk about the customs of Xiaoshu?

"Shu" means hot, so Xiaoshu, as the name suggests, means "little heat", which means that the weather is a bit hot, but it has not yet reached the hottest time.

But after Xiaoshu, as the temperature continued to rise, the weather slowly became hot and sultry, which indicated that it had begun to enter Futian.

Eating dumplings in Tofu is a custom in northern China. Due to the severe heat and sweltering weather, people lose their appetite and lose weight. Therefore, there is a custom of eating dumplings, which makes people appetite.

In many farming areas in China, there were the customs of Shixin in many areas in the past.

"Shixin" is to grind newly harvested rice, wheat, etc. into flour, and then make noodles, cakes, etc. for consumption.

At the same time, people will offer to their ancestors to pray for good weather in the coming year.

With the advent of the little summer, the weather is getting hotter and sultry.

In ancient China, there was a custom of "June 6th, eat fried noodles", fried noodles have the effect of removing heat and humidity.

Eating Chaomian in the summer of Xiaoshu has been popular since the Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties and continues to this day.
